Zechariah Snyder English 3 04/29/2016 HB2: Discrimination? On March 23rd, 2016 at 9:57p.m. NC Governor Pat McCrory, President of the NC Senate Daniel J. Forest, and Speaker of the NC House of Representatives Tim Moore approved House Bill 2 (HB2) or as it is more commonly known, the â€Å"Bathroom Law.† Gov. Pat McCrory, Daniel J. Forest, and Tim Moore all read, ratified, and signed HB2. According to the HB2 Law it aims to â€Å"PROVIDE FOR SINGLE-SEX MULTIPLE OCCUPANCY BATHROOM AND CHANGING FACILITIES IN SCHOOLS AND PUBLIC AGENCIES AND TO CREATE STATEWIDE CONSISTENCY IN REGULATION OF EMPLOYMENT AND PUBLIC ACCOMADATIONS.† (â€Å"HB2†). Whether or not this law actually accomplishes this lawfully is a very touchy subject. Many believe that HB2 goes†¦show more content†¦This is evident in part three section 3.1.C of HB2, where it states that â€Å"The General Assembly declares that the regulation of discriminatory practices in employment is properly an issue of general, statewide concern†¦Ã¢â‚¬  (â€Å"HB2†). Not only does HB2 give power to the state, but it also gives employers the ability to fire someone because of their non-Biological Sex and Sexual Orientation. Not only is this causing problems socially but it also causes emotional distress in the LGBT+ community. We are telling people that if you change your sex to better fit how you perceive yourself then you are less of a person because of it. This law takes the rights that we all deserve and only gives them to a certain set of people. â€Å"An ideal constitution contains properties sufficiently desirable so that it should be followed and incentives so that it is followed.† (â€Å"Fundamental Issues in Constitutional Reform†). Although this quote pertains to the constitution the same goes for laws, the laws should be sufficiently desirable so that it is followed, and incentives so people do follow it. Just like the constitution a law is â€Å"a contract among the citizens creating the state.† (â€Å"Fundament al Issues in Constitutional Reform†). The laws within North Carolina should be made for all those who reside in the state, we shouldn’t make laws that restrict one set of people and
